2008 District DinnerThe 2008 District Dinner was held on April 24th at St. Odilia Church in Shoreview. The dinner recognized Scouters and units for their efforts and their achievements during the last year. The event was dedicated to the memory of Will Jass, long time Distri scouter and friend. The District is fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers. 2008 Ice Fishing DayThe 11th annual Northwest District Ice Fishing contest was held on January 26, 2008, at Snail Lake in Shoreview. There were over 300 Scouts who attended. This was moved from 1/19 to the back-up date of 1/26 when it became known that the high temperature for 1/19 was going to be below zero F and there was to be a -30F wind chill. There were more prizes and winners than ever. Thanks to the many area merchants who donated these door prizes and thanks to Troop 200 which predrilled holes in the ice and also offered concessions. Webelos WoodsThe Northwest District Webelos Woods has been an annual event for 32 years. This event introduces first year Webelos Scouts to Boy Scouts and Boy Scout camping. We were lucky to avoid the predicted rain for most of the weekend at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp. There were over 300 youth and adults who participated in this first experience for Webelos in Boy Scout camping. Thanks to event chair Danny Nelson and all the Scouts, Explorers and Scouters who helped make this happen.
