There is no better time for boys to join a neighborhood Cub Scout pack. Call Will Sulzbach, Membership Chair, 651-484-0659, or Brian Uhlenhopp, District Executive, 651-254-9123, for information about this and any of the other programs described below.
We have active packs with boys from Bel Air, Island Lake, Pinewood, Sunnyside, Turtle Lake, and Valentine Hills Elementary Schools in the Mounds View School District; from Brimhall, Edgerton, Emmet D. Williams, Falcon Heights, Little Canada, Park Center, and Parkview Schools in the Roseville School District; area, and from the Harambee Tri-District School in Maplewood. We also have packs sponsored by St. Odilia Catholic School in Shoreview, St. Rose in Roseville, St. John the Baptist in New Brighton, St. John the Evangelist in Little Canada, and at the Latter Day Saints churches in New Brighton and Little Canada. .
The Cub Scout program is uniquely designed to meet the needs of young boys and their parents by offering fun and challenging experiences that boys and parents do together. The boys have fun, develop new skills, learn to respect others, and learn moral/ethical values, all in a friendly/safe environment.
Den leaders are encouraged to have a "den party" in November or December to fill out their dens. All Cub Scouts are encouraged to do a friend a favor and invite him to come to the den party or a pack meeting. If the friend becomes a member, the Cub Scout will be presented with an attractive "Recruiter" patch and the new member will start enjoying the benefits of Scouting. It's "win/win"" for everyone!
Now is the time when 5th Grade Webelos Scout dens should be invited to visit special events of their partner Boy Scout troop. There, the Webelos and their parents and Den Leaders will meet the troop leaders and learn more about the great opportunities for adventure that await them in Boy Scouting. While we strongly encourage these partnerships because they offer great benefits for both the partnering pack and troop, in some cases Webelos dens may also visit the special events of other troops. Our goal is for at least 80% of the 5th Grade Webelos to go on into Boy Scouting.
Other than Webelos transition, the most effective way for Boy Scout troops to add new members is for troop members to invite their friends to attend troop activities. All our troops plan outstanding activities including high adventure each year. Every boy will benefit from the skills learned in Scouting. Let's give them the opportunity! We have special recognition for Scouts who recruit a friend
Young people in Venturing make new friends, learn leadership skills, participate in challenging outdoor activities, develop more self-confidence, and have opportunities to go to new places and do new things. Venturers are organized into crews of five to about twenty members and pursue a variety of outdoor interests. One of our crews specializes in first aid and emergency services. Other crew specialties may be selected including a program that provides additional resources for church youth groups. The crew members elect their own leaders and plan their own program. All crews welcome new members at any time.
If your organization is located in the Mounds View or Roseville School
District areas, and you would like to learn more about the advantage of making
Scouting's considerable resources available to your youth, please contact us.
For information about any of these items, please contact Will
Sulzbach, Membership Chair, 651-484-0659 or
Anna Hudak, District Executive, 651-254-9123.
