Beginning September, 2001, every Merit Badge Counselor is required to have Merit Badge Counselor Training. Merit Badge Counselors should take this class and Youth Protection Training. This year Northwest District provided each Troop with a Merit Badge Counselor Training Kit. The Training coordinator for each unit should conduct this training with all merit badge counselors that are registered with their Troop.
Each year this award is presented at the Council level to Scouters who have rendered
noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth. Candidates, without
their knowledge, are nominated by fellow Scouters. Recipients are recognized at the annual Council Court of Recognition Dinner. Nominations are now being

Each year Northwest District requests input from Packs and Troops on various aspects of their unit operations. The Chairs of the District operating committees then evaluate these inputs and determine the top three units in each of the operating areas. These units are awarded a District Award of excellence at the annual District Dinner (4/24/08 - see Activities page for more information on the District Dinner and a sign-up form). These should be turned in by March 13th at the District Roundtable or by FAX on March 14th to the East Council office. We will accept these beyond the deadline if you e-mail them to Mary Lillemo.
