print. District Pinewood DerbyThe 2010 Northwest District Pinewood derby will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist School gym in Little Canada.
The top 5 finishers from each Northwest District pack are invited to compete
in the Northwest District Pinewood Derby. There is no need to
pre-register. The top 10 finishers will be invited to race in the Council
Pinewood Derby race. Thanks to event chair Dick Thomalla and Troop 462 for hosting the 2009

for a flyer for the 2010 Northwest District Pinewood Derby. District DinnerThis annual event is a chance to meet with other Scouters from the district
and recognize Quality Units, Distinguished Scouters, Awards of Excellence,
District Award of Merit and more. All of this plus a great meal!
The 2010 dinner will be on Thursday, April 22nd at St. Odila Catholic Church in
Shoreview. Social time starts at 6:00 pm with dinner at 6:30 pm.

Flyer and Registration Form. Webelos Activity DayThis is a District wide day event which provides Webelos Scouts with the opportunity to earn several Webelos Activity Pins. This will be held on Saturday, April 24th at Christ the King Church in New Brighton. Watch here for more details as they become available (in March) about registration and badges offered. Scouting for FoodScouting for Food pick-up will be on Saturday, April 24th. Bags promoting this event have been discontinued. Zone assignments and maps will be available at the Northwest District Roundtable on April 8th. Help make a difference in our community by participating in this Scouting good turn. Webelos WoodsWebelos Woods is a unique opportunity for 4th grade Webelos and parents to experience a campout with a Boy Scouting experience. Boy Scouts, Explorers, Venturing Crew and Scouters from the Northwest District organize this campout which has contests, skills stations, tent camping, outdoor cooking and more. This year will be Northwest District's 33rd annual Webelos Woods at it will be on May 14 - 16, 2010 at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp, so reserve this weekend on your calendar. Packets are available below. Watch here for information on how to register for the 2010 Webelos Woods. These will be posted below when they are available. A Health Form must be submitted for every participant at registration time. Thanks to Dan Nelson who is chairing this event this year.

CamporeeThe Camporee is a District wide camping event. There is a theme for the event and there are structured activities to participate in.

Ice Fishing ContestThe 2010 Northwest District 13th annual Ice Fishing Contest was at Snail Lake Regional Park on Saturday, January 23, 2010. The 2011 Ice Fishing Contest (14th annual) will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Watch here in the future for information on the 2011 event. Railroading Merit Badge SaturdayThis event was offered in 2009. Look for it again in 2011. Wali Ga ZuThis annual event has already been held for this year, click here to see pictures of last year's event. Wali Ga Zu is a district-wide patrol skills competition. Every year Troops register their patrols to compete in this event. This inter-troop and inter-patrol Scout skills activity's purpose is to promote learning, practicing and demonstrating five of the basic Scout skills (Tripod Building / Lashing, First Aid, Nature Identification, Map and Compass Skills, Knot Tying). Awards are presented based on proficiency and speed. The 2010 Wali Ga Zu was held on February 22nd and March 1st, 2010 at the St. John the Evangelist School gym in Little Canada. (Troops participate on one of the two days.) The Northwest District had a very successful Wali-Ga-Zu Scout Skills Challenge for 2010. 200 Scouts in 35 patrols from 15 Troops participated in one of the two evening events. The summary results of the scores are shown below.

This year
Northwest District will hold a special Merit Badge Saturday event on February 27, 2010
for Scouts interested in completing the Citizenship in the Nation and/or
Citizenship in the World Merit Badges. This event will be held at Shepherd
of the Hills Lutheran Church in Shoreview and is in addition to the normal Merit
Badge Saturday which will be held the following week on March 6th.

Merit Badge Saturday #2
Northwest District will hold a Merit Badge Saturday on March 6, 2010 at Shepherd
of the Hills Lutheran Church in Shoreview. Each
year over 100 Scouts attend and earn Merit Badges. We will offer adults Advancement, Merit Badge Counselor, and/or
Eagle Leadership Project Coach Training.

Maplewood Nature CenterThe Maplewood Nature Center offers several programs that are of interest to
youth and adults alike. They also have some programs specifically for Bear
and Webelos Scouts.
