Northwest - Do Your Best!

Northwest District is part of the Northern Star Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Northwest District is comprised of the communities of Arden Hills, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, the west panhandle of Maplewood, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville and  Shoreview.  This site is intended for the use of the members of Scout units within this district.

A message from David Lovett, Northwest District Executive:

"Hello! Since entering the role of Northwest District Executive on February 16, I have already been amazed by what a positive culture I am entering into in this district. While I am new to Northwest District, I have been involved in Scouting since I was in second grade. I am an Eagle Scout with a passion for the outdoors and all things Scouting. I have held a variety of seasonal positions Northern Star Council’s camping department, including Navajo Camp Director, Snow Base Director, and Director of the Centennial Program at Tomahawk Scout Reservation (during which I impersonated Lord Baden-Powell for the summer of 2010.) I was most recently Lead Instructor at Base Camp, before beginning this exciting opportunity as the new Northwest District Executive."

"I am personally committed to Doing My Best at all times—which is one of the main reasons that I feel that I have found a great fit with Northwest, where everyone knows to Do Your Best. In Northwest, people are passionate and committed to the Scouting, the community, and the youth."

"If you are new to the district or to this website, I am sure that you will find it just as welcoming, friendly, and resourceful as I have. Please feel free to contact me, or any of the District’s volunteers, to make your Scouting experience the best it can be. This is a place where the Scout Law and Scout Oath are the rules we live by, and we are all brought together by the culture of Scouting."

"Thank you to Steve Anderson, the Webmaster of Northwest District, for making this resource available, valid, and efficient. If you are looking to enroll your son or teenage daughter in Scouting or for adult volunteer opportunities, please call me directly at 651-254-9123 or e-mail me at dlovett@northernstarbsa.org."

Scouting's Journey to Excellence

“Scouting’s Journey to Excellence” is the BSA’s new council performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils. It is replacing the Centennial Quality Awards Program as a means of encouraging excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.  More information about JTE can be found on the Northwest District Roundtable page.
